Fleetwood Mac have announced that Lindsey Buckingham will no longer be part of the band.
Fleetwood Mac have announced that Lindsey Buckingham will no longer be part of the band.
A statement from the band confirmed that Buckingham will be replaced on their upcoming tour by Mike Campbell of the Heartbreakers and Neil Finn of Crowded House.
"We are thrilled to welcome the musical talents of the caliber of Mike Campbell and Neil Finn into the Mac family," the band told Rolling Stone.
"With Mike and Neil, we'll be performing all the hits that the fans love, plus we'll be surprising our audiences with some tracks from our historic catalogue of songs. Fleetwood Mac has always been a creative evolution. We look forward to honouring that spirit on this upcoming tour."
Mick Fleetwood also released his own statement, perhaps in an attempt to calm down fans after the departure of one of Fleetwood Mac's principle songwriters.
"Fleetwood Mac has always been about an amazing collection of songs that are performed with a unique blend of talents," Mick said.
"We jammed with Mike and Neil and the chemistry really worked and let the band realise that this is the right combination to go forward with in Fleetwood Mac style. We know we have something new, yet it's got the unmistakable Mac sound."
The news comes just a few months after Christine McVie - who recently collaborated with Buckingham on their own album - announced the classing Rumours lineup of the band would be touring together in 2018.
Buckingham and former partner Stevie Nicks joined Fleetwood Mac together in 1974, kicking off the band's most successful period.
