Strictly's Katya Jones and Seann Walsh apologise after "drunken mistake" kiss

The Strictly Come Dancing stars both issued apologies after a difficult weekend.

Comedian Seann Walsh and his professional dancing partner Katya Jones were photographed and filmed kissing in the street in London over the weekend, with several tabloids publishing the clips.

Seann Walsh is in a long-term relationship with actress Rebecca Humphries, while Katya Jones is married to fellow Strictly star Neil Jones.

The pair apologised for a “one-off drunken mistake”, as the so-called “curse of Strictly” appeared to strike again.

Walsh - who had been supported by his girlfriend in the Strictly studios this weekend before the photos were released - said: “I would like to offer my sincere apologies for my actions. This is no excuse but it was a one-off drunken mistake which I am truly sorry for."

Jones said: “I’m so sorry about any offence or hurt I may have caused with my actions. I wasn’t thinking and it was a one-off mistake after some drinks. I love my husband and we are very happy together, this is not a reflection on our relationship.”

BBC sources have said Walsh and Jones will continue dancing together.

The celebrity talent show has become linked with the break-up of its contestants relationships over the years.

Louise Redknapp separated from her husband Jamie in 2016, Natasha Kaplinsky and Brendan Cole split with their partners to get together in 2004, and Rachel Riley divorced her husband after the 2014 series to start a romance with Pasha Kovalev.

In 2009, boxer Joe Calzaghe ended his relationship of five years before being linked with his dance partner Kristina Rihanoff. Four years later, Rihanoff started dating her dance partner Ben Cohen, who divorced his wife of 12 years.
