Usually, the performance is attended by select core members of the Royal Family.
This year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the performance, marking Meghan's first appearance.
The special event is held in aid of the Royal Variety Charity, of which The Queen is a patron, and the money raised helps people from the world of entertainment in need of care and assistance as a result of old age, ill-health, or hard times.
