Golden Globes 2020: Elton John musical Rocketman is nominated for three awards

The nominess for next year's Golden Globe awards have been announced, and there's plenty of prizes up for grabs for British talent.

Rocketman is up for three awards in total, including a lead actor nod for Taron Egerton as Sir Elton John.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge is also up for a lead actress prize for Fleabag, while her Irish co-star Andrew Scott is also recognised.

Netflix film Marriage Story is the most nominated movie, with six nominations in all. The Irishman, also on Netflix, and Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood get five nominations each.

The Crown, Chernobyl and Unbelievable are the big winners on TV, with four nominations each.

Christian Bale is up for the best actor in a film drama prize for Ford v Ferrari, Daniel Craig is up for best actor in a film comedy or musical for Knives Out and Dame Emma Thompson is nominated for Late Night.

Olivia Colman, Helena Bonham Carter and Tobias Menzies are all up for awards for their royal parts in the season three of The Crown.

'I'm Gonna Love Me Again', a new song written for Rocketman by Sir Elton John and Bernie Taupin, is up for the best original film song award, while the film itself is nominated for best comedy or musical.

Ricky Gervais will return as host of the awards on January 5, having previously fronted them in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2016.

Tom Hanks will receive a lifetime achievement award at the event, following on from the likes of Meryl Streep and Oprah Winfrey.
