Game of Thrones has revealed just what happened to Ed Sheeran's character on the show, so will he be coming back?
Warning: This article contains minor spoilers for Game of Thrones' season 8 opening episode.
Ed Sheeran made a surprise cameo in the first episode of the show’s seventh season back in 2017, where he was seen leading a singalong with a group of Lannister soldiers, and even had a brief conversation with Arya Stark (Maisie Williams).
The appearance was widely panned, and now it appears his character won't be making a comeback.
Sheeran’s episode ended with Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) sending her dragons to attack the Lannister troops, with many assuming that Ed’s character was no more.

In the first episode of Season 8 last night (April 14), Bronn (Jerome Flynn) was increasingly annoyed at a group of girls, as they began speculating about the fate of the Lannister troops.
Ed’s fate was revealed, as one of the girls remembered how a ginger-haired soldier named Eddie had his face burnt off in the attack.
Ouch.
Ed previously admitted that he didn’t expect his character to survive for very long: “We were all quite young, those soldiers,” he said. “I doubt I’m going to survive for that long, to be honest, when there are dragons in the world."
