John Lennon first came to fame as one of the Fab Four in The Beatles, and later embarked on a successful solo career. Also a renowned peace activist, his songwriting partnership with Paul McCartney is still the most successful in musical history. He was tragically killed after being murdered outside his home in New York in 1980.
