Richard E Grant may have lost out on an Oscar, but he received arguably an even bigger prize on Sunday (February 24).
The British actor finally struck up the nerve to introduce himself to his childhood idol Barbra Streisand for the first time.
Earlier this month, Richard revealed how he wrote to her as a teenager, offering her his holiday home if she ever wanted some “respite” from the limelight.
He was pictured in tears of joy after Barbra finally responded to him 47 years later, after receiving his first Oscar nomination for his role in Can You Ever Forgive Me?
At the Oscars on Sunday, Richard grabbed Barbra for a selfie as they celebrated into the early hours at an after party, describing the moment “40 karat gold”.

Being Oscar nominated was pretty amazing, but meeting with @barbrastreisand and having a proper conversation was an absolute astonishment. 40 carat Gold 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 pic.twitter.com/7ahBzdjg9j

“Being Oscar nominated was pretty amazing, but meeting with @barbrastreisand and having a proper conversation was an absolute astonishment,” he tweeted.
The selfie was posted a few hours after Richard looked overjoyed as Streisand took to the stage to introduce Best Picture nominee BlacKkKlansman.
